Techiman, (Bono East) April 10, GNA-Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister says the government remains committed to ensure that construction works on the abandoned Agenda 111 District Hospital projects are resumed, completed and handed-over for use.
He said the nation had prioritised quality healthcare delivery under the President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Reset Ghana’ agenda, explaining that stalled works on the construction of some three psychiatric hospitals in the country would also be resumed soon.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Techiman, Mr Antwi said the government was doing all these to improve the geographical access to health care.
He said the government had directed all the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to also complete Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound projects, nationwide.
Mr Antwi noted that the health sector remained one of the critical pillars of national development, saying that healthy people pushed economic growth and sustainable development.
“So, President Mahama’s reset agenda prioritises investment in healthcare infrastructure, human resource, disease prevention and control as well as system strengthening to attain the Universal Health Coverage by 2030”, he explained.
Mr Antwi said construction works on 18 CHPS projects were at the various stages of completion in the region, saying that plans were far advanced for the execution of a regional hospital project in Bono East.
He expressed appreciation to the first lady Lordina Mahama’s foundation for renovating and equipping some health facilities in the region with modern medical devices and equipment.
