Yaa Naa appoints Global Marketing and Communications Representative for Yendi and Dagbon

Yendi (NR), March 23, GNA – His Royal Majesty Ndan Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari Gariba II, King of Dagbon, has appointed Ms Lyssiemay Nyaaba Annoh as the Global Marketing and Communications Representative for Yendi and the Dagbon Kingdom.

The appointment forms part of efforts to strengthen international visibility, promote cultural heritage, and enhance global partnerships for the Kingdom.

Ms Annoh will operate from the United Kingdom.

The ceremony was attended on behalf of Gundogu Naa Hajia Samata Abudu, the highest-ranking female authority in the Dagbon Kingdom, by the Vokpi Naa, her principal liaison responsible for engagements with government, the private sector, and development partners.

The Vokpi Naa plays a central role in advancing initiatives that support the development of the Gundugu Traditional Area, the Yendi Municipality, and the wider Dagbon State.

Speaking at the event, Mr Musah Yakubu, Public Relations Officer of the Office of His Majesty, conveyed the Yaa Naa’s blessings and well-wishes to Ms Annoh. He expressed the King’s confidence in her ability to represent Dagbon internationally and extend its cultural and economic influence.

He urged her to work with dedication and integrity, and prayed for good health and strength as she assumes her new responsibilities.

Yendi is widely recognized as the leading producer of Fugu, also known as Batakari, the traditional hand‑woven garment associated with royalty, strength, and cultural identity.

In honour of its significance, the Government of Ghana has designated Wednesdays as National Fugu Day, a campaign driven by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts to promote local craftsmanship, cultural pride, and national unity.

The initiative gained renewed momentum following global commentary on President John Dramani Mahama’s traditional attire, a conversation that evolved into a broader celebration of Ghanaian heritage.

Ms Annoh, an alumna of Aggrey Memorial School in Cape Coast, is an award‑winning, multilingual professional with experience spanning public relations, tourism, corporate reputation management, and stakeholder engagement.

She has worked with ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals, senior executives, and institutions across corporate, public, and diplomatic sectors.

She brings extensive expertise in tourism product development, brand positioning, and international communications to her new role.

Information on Ghana’s Fugu industry and its cultural impact is widely available across local and international media platforms.

Bulk and retail Fugu orders continue to increase, with growing interest from global consumers seeking authentic Ghanaian cultural products.
