Sheikh urges Muslims to uphold good conduct after Eid-ul-Fitr

Nkawie (Ash), March 21, GNA – Sheikh Mahamud Mukaeel Bambah, the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Chief Imam, has urged Muslims, particularly the youth, to uphold good behaviour and reflect the true teachings of Islam in their daily lives after the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

He cautioned that any conduct that tarnished the image of Islam and undermined its moral and spiritual values must be avoided, so that society would appreciate the positive impact of the religion.

Sheikh Bambah gave the advice in a sermon during the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Nkawie, marking the end of this year’s Ramadan.

He explained that Islamic observances such as Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr were divine commandments ordained by Allah, which brought blessings when observed with devotion through fasting, prayer, almsgiving, and peaceful living.

However, he stressed the need for Muslims to sustain those blessings beyond the fasting period by exhibiting discipline, humility, and good character.

“A Muslim must strive to make family, friends and neighbours happy after Ramadan, rather than engage in acts that promote violence and conflict,” he said.

He condemned acts of violence, including the use of cutlasses and other weapons during disputes, as well as theft and robbery, describing them as contrary to Islamic teachings.

Sheikh Bambah, therefore, urged Muslims to remain peace-loving and law-abiding in all their endeavours to reflect the core values of Islam.

He also commended Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for joining various Muslim communities during the celebrations, describing the gesture as a sign of inclusiveness and commitment to working with people from all backgrounds.

Mr. Boamah visited communities including Abuakwa, Sepaase, Mim, and Nkawie, where he supported the celebrations with donations of assorted drinks.

The MCE, in turn, praised the Muslim community for their peaceful coexistence with other religious groups and the public, noting that peace and unity were essential for development.

“The atmosphere of devotion and unity is inspiring and reflects strong bonds that can hold us together as one community,” he said.

He called for sustained unity and cooperation among residents to accelerate development in the municipality.
