Shama (WR), March 07, GNA – Mr Paul Otis Dentu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shama, says it is very crucial to inculcate in children the habit of knowing the history of the country to spur Patriotism.
He said from struggles to achievements, Ghana continued to be a beacon of hope among its peers in Africa and the present generation must be well informed, to uphold high the liberation struggles and the need to contribute positively to the country’s development.
Mr Dentu, speaking at the 69th Independence Day celebration at Shama, noted the need for a collaborative efforts to building strong and flourishing economy that benefited everyone.
He said Independence Day Anniversary on the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” must be close to the hearts of Ghanaians, ’69 Years of self-governance’.
“Let us reflect on the progress we have made so far,” he added.
The DCE noted that industrialisation was key on the agenda of government; building factories, processing raw materials and creating jobs and supporting local business.
It would shape the innovativeness of the Youth and give start up capital to boost entrepreneurship to expand businesses, modernising farming and increasing productivity.
There would also be access to finance so that people could have access to loans to start business, as wall as infrastructure development, seen in the light of building roads, bridges and ports which connect people, goods and services from one place to another to make trade and commerce easier.
The DCE admonished the youth to listen to the counsel of their parents and guardians.
“It is also useful to be serious about your education and study your books in all disciplines,” he added.
The Shama DCE said advised the youth against wasting their precious time on social media, to follow news items that had the tendency to draw them into social vices.
