Kumasi, March 19, GNA – The inhabitants of Ohwim, a suburb of Kumasi, have demonstrated strong community spirit by donating a slightly used Nissan pickup and a brand-new motorbike to their local police station, to enhance operational efficiency.

The initiative, led by Mr Paul Arthur, the Assembly Member for the Ohwim-Amanfrom electoral area, is aimed at improving police mobility and strengthening security in the community.

The donation follows a fundraising effort held last year, supported by Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Member of Parliament for Bantama,  as well as traditional leaders, clergy, and other stakeholders.

At a brief ceremony to officially hand over the items at the forecourt of the police station, Mr Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, the Mayor of Kumasi, commended the community for their proactive support.

He described the initiative as a demonstration of effective grassroot leadership and civic responsibility, urging other communities to emulate, to complement the government’s efforts toward national development.

Mr Boadi also called on the police to make judicious use of the equipment.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ishak Ibrahim, the Divisional Commander for Suame, on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, expressed gratitude to the Assembly Member and residents for their contribution towards enhancing policing in the area.

He assured the community of the police service’s commitment towards maintaining law and order and appealed for sustained public support.

Nana Kwaku Baafi II, the Otumfuo’s Nantiahene (sub-chief), praised the Assembly Member for the initiative and thanked stakeholders for their collective effort, expressing confidence that the police would rise to the occasion with the added support.
