Bibiani (WN/R), March 19, GNA – Nana Kwasi Ato Ware II, the Chief of Sefwi Basengele in the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, has advised a pastor of Truth Faith Church, to retract an alleged offensive comment made against Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the President, National House of Chiefs.
The call follows a viral video circulating on social media in which Pastor Koomson was seen on a TikTok platform alleging that the President of the National House of Chiefs, had not undertaken any development projects in his area since he assumed office.
Reacting to the issue, Nana Ware stated that such remarks undermined the dignity and integrity of the chieftaincy institution and urged the pastor to retract his statements and render an unqualified apology.
He stressed that the chieftaincy institution played a crucial role in Ghana’s traditional governance system, particularly in dispute resolution and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The Chief stated that public attacks on its leadership threatened the respect of society for traditional authority.
Nana Ware further indicated that such criticisms from some religious and political figures risked eroding public confidence in chiefs and weakened national unity.
He noted that Ghana’s governance framework thrived on collaboration between modern political structures and traditional leadership.
“The pastor’s remarks are palpable falsehoods that are damaging to the reputation of our revered overlord, and his re-election as President of the National House of Chiefs is clear evidence of his impactful leadership and achievements,” he stated.
Highlighting some of his accomplishments, Nana Ware mentioned the establishment of the Queens Girls Senior High School, the construction of dormitories and laboratories for several Senior High Schools, and the provision of sanitary facilities in Bibiani, Agona Nkwanta and Mankessim through the GNPC Foundation.
He also mentioned scholarship schemes for brilliant but needy students, as well as apprenticeship programmes aimed at empowering the youth.
Nana Ware, therefore, called on the leadership of Truth Faith Church to take disciplinary action against the pastor, including a possible demotion.
