Ho, March 9, GNA- Madam Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, has reaffirmed MTN’s commitments and obligation to improve lives through strategic investments in health, education, and economic empowerment.

She said MTN’s role really goes beyond connectivity, stating “We have deeply invested in the country’s long-term prosperity through our infrastructure. We talk about financial inclusion, education, and healthcare.”

In a video message shared by MTN with the Ghana News Agency to congratulate Ghana on its 69th independence anniversary, she said, “As Ghana marks 69 years of independence, MTN is proud to have walked part of this journey with the nation.”

She said as “MTN Ghana marks 30 years of partnership with the nation, it looks ahead, evolving into a connectivity, fintech and platform business across the country expanding infrastructure, scaling digital platforms, and deepening financial inclusion.

She noted leadership was not measured only in market share, but in life’s touched, in opportunities created in futures secured.

MTN Ghana has emerged not just as a telecom provider, but a primary contributor to national growth that has navigated economic headwinds and global uncertainties.

For 30 years, we have connected people, enabled businesses, and supported the growth of communities across the country.

Beyond the stories, MTN continues to contribute to national development through taxes, levies, infrastructure investment, job creation, and sustained support to government initiatives that power Ghana’s progress.

The video said in 2024 alone, MTN Ghana paid a record GHS8.6 billion in direct and indirect taxes to the state, representing a 45.8 per cent year-on-year increase over 2023.

These payments, it said, accounted for just over 50 per cent of the company’s total revenue for the year under review.

The year before, in 2023, MTN reinforced its position as Ghana’s highest corporate taxpayer, contributing GHS5.9 billion in direct and indirect taxes, plus GHS0.4 billion in fees and levies at statutory payments.

And as Ghana steps boldly into a digital future, MTN Ghana remains committed as a partner in progress, as a responsible corporate citizen, as the catalyst for national development, as a true force for good.

The company wished the State #HappyIndependenceAnniversary@69 and #MTN@30.

“Together, we continue building the Ghana we all believe in,” it added
