Mamboi residents appeal for KG block, improved road network

Mamboi (UW/R), March 03, GNA – The residents of Mamboi, a community in the Kpaliye Electoral Area in the Wa East District, have appealed to the government to consider helping provide a Kindergarten (KG) block at the community to enhance access to pre-primary education in the area.

The residents also appealed to the government to give a facelift to the roads connecting their community to other communities in the area, especially where they accessed markets and other essential services, such as healthcare.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the community, Naa Ahmadu Abdulali, the Chief of Mamboi, said some parts of the community had been cut off by a river, making some parts of the community inaccessible, particularly during the rainy season.

He added that they were unable to access market centres, while farmers were unable to transport farm inputs from market centres to their farms, which was having a toll on their farming activities.

“The bad state of the roads is really affecting us. Farmers cannot buy fertiliser and other things from the market.

When there is a serious health issue, getting to the health centre is a problem, and for pregnant women to access antenatal services and to deliver at the clinic,” he explained.

Naa Abdulai indicated that the general lack of some basic facilities, such as a befitting school and health facility, and good roads, was negatively affecting livelihood.

He, however, said the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area had not been responsive to their challenges.

Mr Peter Sortro Mwiniisir, the Assembly Member for the area, also told GNA that although political leaders were aware of the challenges confronting the people, little had been done to address them.

He noted that though promises were made during election periods to fix roads and provide educational infrastructure, those promises had not been fulfilled after the elections.

Ms Bosureta Ahmed, a resident, said the situation posed serious risks to school children and expectant mothers, especially when it rained, as children were unable to attend schools and pregnant women were unable to access health facilities.

She, therefore, made a passionate appeal to the government and other stakeholders to intervene to improve living conditions in the community.
