Kumasi, Aug. 29, GNA – Mr. Ben Abdullah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore-Mampong, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding educational infrastructure to improve access to quality education in the municipality.
He said providing the requisite facilities was essential to ensuring that every child had the opportunity to learn, develop and thrive.
Mr. Alhassan made the statement at the commissioning of a 12-unit classroom block at Sakafia Senior High School at Asawase.
The project, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), comprises offices and stores, a six-seater toilet facility and a borehole.
Mr. Alhassan described the completion of the project as a significant milestone in efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning in the municipality.
According to the MCE, the facilities would provide students with a safe, supportive and modern learning environment to enhance effective teaching and learning.
He said the commitment to education went beyond the construction of classrooms, stressing that it also involved creating opportunities and empowering young people to grow into responsible citizens.
Mr. Alhassan said Sakafia Senior High School was also benefiting from other major infrastructure projects, including a 2,000-capacity assembly hall and a four-storey girls’ dormitory.
He noted that the projects would strengthen the school’s capacity, improve student welfare and provide students with a more enriching academic experience.
The MCE said the Assembly would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address infrastructure challenges facing schools within the municipality.
“Together, we will continue to invest in our children because their success today is the foundation of a stronger Ghana tomorrow,” he stressed.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by municipal education officials, traditional leaders, members of the clergy and other stakeholders.
