Tema, March 20, GNA — Imam Abdul Mumin, of the Chief Bello Mosque at Ashaiman New York, has called on Muslims and the Ghanaian youth to embrace prayer and patience as foundations for personal success and national peace.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Imam observed that the modern world is fraught with challenges that could only be overcome through spiritual discipline and a steadfast commitment to religious teachings.
“Prayer is the greatest necessity on this earth. Without it, the foundation of society falters,” he said, adding that the fasting season is a sacred period to seek divine intervention for families and the nation.
Addressing the youth, Imam Mumin cautioned against social vices and negative influences, which he attributed to a lack of spiritual focus.
He urged young people to remain resilient and hard-working to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Imam further exhorted fellow Muslim leaders, including Mallams and Imams, to remain faithful to the core teachings of the Quran.
He reminded them that life was transient and that their responsibility was to guide their followers according to the word of God to ensure a peaceful transition in the hereafter.
On the issue of varying Eid prayer dates due to moon sightings, Imam Mumin called for mutual respect and tolerance within the Islamic community.
He explained that differences in geographical locations and human observations made it acceptable for groups to observe Eid on different days, whether Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, provided they had fulfilled the spiritual requirements.
“We are all created by the Almighty, but our circumstances differ. It is right for everyone to pray when they are ready and have fulfilled the requirements,” he said.
