Kumasi, March 09, GNA – Dr. Kwabena Owusu Asante, the Medical Director of Hart Adventist Hospital at Ahinsan in the Asokwa Municipality, has highlighted the facility’s impact on healthcare delivery in the community over the past decade.

Speaking at the launch of its 10th anniversary scheduled for July 2026, Dr. Asante said the hospital’s growth and service expansion over the years reflected the vision and foresight of its founders.

According to him, the hospital made a bold decision to adopt electronic medical records as early as 2016, at a time when many health facilities were still relying on manual record-keeping systems.

“Management took the bold step to embrace electronic medical records in 2016 when most facilities were still using pen and paper.

We introduced a paperless system to enhance efficiency and improve patient care,” he noted.

Dr. Asante revealed that the hospital recorded 976 Out-Patient Department (OPD) attendances between July and December 2016, when the facility was first established.

However, from its establishment to the end of 2025, the hospital had attended to a total of 221,852 patients.

In terms of admissions, he said the hospital recorded 83 cases in 2016, but by the end of 2025, admissions for that year alone had risen to 3,784.

He further disclosed that over the past decade, the hospital had recorded 25,847 in-patients, describing the figures as a significant contribution toward improving healthcare access in line with the goals of World Health Organization’s Universal Health Coverage agenda.

“In an era where we talk about Universal Health Coverage, these numbers demonstrate the growing access to healthcare in our community and underscore the impact we are making in health service delivery,” he said.

The Medical Director also highlighted the hospital’s contribution to maternal healthcare, stating that, more than 35,000 pregnant women had attended antenatal services at the facility over the past ten years, with over 3,500 deliveries recorded.

He added that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital distinguished itself as one of the reliable healthcare facilities that continued to provide care to patients despite the challenges associated with the global health crisis.

Dr. Asante further noted that the hospital’s services have expanded significantly over the years.

From initially offering basic healthcare services, the facility now provides specialised services including dental care, ear, nose and throat (ENT) treatment, eye care and other specialist services.

He added that the hospital currently operates a 24-hour service to ensure continuous access to healthcare for residents in the community.

He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the well-being of residents in the community and beyond as it marked a decade of service.

Mr. Amoh Kamel, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, commended the hospital for a decade of dedicated service and healing to residents of Ahinsan and surrounding communities.

He noted that the facility had become a pillar of local healthcare by helping to ease the burden on government health institutions while strengthening access to community-based medical services.

Mr. Kamel also pledged full support from the Municipal Assembly to the hospital as it worked to enhance healthcare delivery across the municipality.
