CLOGSAG strike disrupts services at New Juaben Assembly

Koforidua, March, 11, GNA – A nationwide strike by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has left traders, pensioners, and other clients frustrated as services at the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly were disrupted this week.

This follows a meeting on March 9 between the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and CLOGSAG which ended without agreement, keeping the strike in place.

Earlier this year, the Association announced plans to withdraw its services over delays in the implementation of a negotiated unique salary structure and other conditions of service.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency to the Assembly’s premises showed several clients stranded as offices remained closed.

Ms Cynthia Gyamfi, a food seller seeking to renew her food hygiene permit at the Environmental Health Unit, said she found no official at post.

She noted that delays in securing the permit could affect her food business.

“I came for my permit renewal but met nobody at the office. This can disturb my work,” she said.

Mr Ernest Boamah, who needed a birth certificate to process a passport, also expressed frustration.

He appealed to the authorities to resolve the matter quickly.

“I am upset because this delay affects my travel plans. I urge the National Labour Commission and other institutions to fast‑track negotiations so that things can return to normal,” he said.

The strike continues to affect municipal services as CLOGSAG awaits action on its salary demands.
