Manso Kumpese (Ash), Sept. 10, GNA – Traditional leaders in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region have appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to prioritise the rehabilitation of the district’s road network to unlock its economic potential and attract private-sector investment.
They said the poor condition of some roads was discouraging investors and entrepreneurs from establishing businesses in the area, thereby limiting employment opportunities and economic prospects, particularly for the youth.
Nana Kyei Baffour I, Chief of Manso Dadiase, and Nana Sarfo Boateng II, Chief of Manso Kumpese, made the appeal when they spoke to the media after the commissioning of the NAGOD Executive Hotel at Manso Kumpese Junction.
They said Amansie South had significant potential in agriculture, mining and other commercial activities, but inadequate road infrastructure continued to hamper the movement of people and goods and constrained economic development.
The chiefs said good roads were essential for connecting communities to markets, reducing transportation challenges and creating an enabling environment for businesses to establish and expand their operations.
They observed that investors would be more inclined to commit resources to the district if they were assured of reliable road connectivity and efficient transportation of goods and services.
They therefore appealed to the government to expedite measures to improve the road network, saying that would help open up the district, attract investment and create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth.
The appeal comes against the backdrop of ongoing efforts to improve some roads in the district.
In June 2026, the Amansie South District Assembly, in partnership with Asanko Gold Ghana Limited, commenced reshaping and rock-filling works on the Manso Akwasiso-Manso Nkran road to improve accessibility and promote socio-economic development.
A previous partnership between the Assembly and Asanko Gold Ghana also focused on the regular maintenance and reshaping of critical community roads, underscoring the importance of road infrastructure to development in the district.
Meanwhile, Mr. Akwasi Seth, Chief Executive Officer of NAGOD Executive Hotel, popularly known as NAGOD, also called for urgent attention to the roads in the area.
He said the poor and dusty condition of some roads was affecting residents and businesses and could potentially expose residents to respiratory health concerns.
Mr. Seth said improved roads would make the area more accessible, facilitate the movement of goods and services and create a more conducive environment for businesses and investors.
He encouraged entrepreneurs and investors to explore the business opportunities in Amansie South, saying increased investment would create jobs for the youth and contribute to the socio-economic development of the district.
