Accra, March 12, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, Madam Ewurabena Aubynn, has inspired young girls to recognise their value and pursue education, leadership, and skills development to drive sustainable progress.

Speaking during an engagement with students from Street Academy Ghana and selected technical and vocational institutions in Accra, Ms. Aubynn emphasized that “leadership begins with believing that you have something meaningful to offer.”

She urged the girls to develop their abilities, remain committed to their goals, and cultivate courage and discipline to make a lasting impact in society.

“When you develop your abilities and remain committed to your goals, you position yourself to influence change wherever life takes you,” she said.

The outreach programme, held under the theme: “Give to Gain,” aimed to inspire confidence among young girls and encourage them to pursue their aspirations.

It was also a platform for the MPs Women’s Caucus as part of this year’s IWD to engage with students, particularly young girls, to encourage and support one another and build networks that promote growth and collaboration.

IWD is a global celebration held on March 8 every year to celebrate women’s achievements and contributions, reflect on progress made towards gender equality, raise awareness about remaining challenges, and call for action to accelerate women’s empowerment.

The United Nations (UN) describes it as a moment to “celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women” and “accelerate gender parity.”

This year’s theme emphasized the need to dismantle structural barriers to equal justice, including discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices that erode women’s rights.
