UENR 2025/2026 SRC presents exercise books to basic schools

Sunyani, Feb. 4, GNA – The 2025/2026 Student Representative Council of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has presented 5,000 pieces of exercise books to three basic schools in the Sunyani and Sunyani West Municipalities. 
 
They include the UENR and Mmredane Basic Schools in Sunyani as well as the Presbyterian Basic School at Odomase in Sunyani West. 
 
Mr Abdulliah Zakaria Agyei, the President of the SRC told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on the sidelines of separate distribution ceremonies that the donations aligned with the Council’s social responsibility programme to give back to the needy and vulnerable people in society. 
 
He stressed the SRC’s readiness and dedication to identify and support vulnerable pupils and students to continue with their education, and to achieve high academic laurels. 
 
Mr Agyei advised the beneficiaries to learn hard, saying quality education remained the surest legacy their parents and government could bequeath them. 
 
In another interview, Mr James Clarke Hayford, the Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations Officer and Assistant Registrar in-charge of Dean of Students Office of the UENR told the GNA that the SRC intended to distribute 15,000 pieces of exercise books to 20 selected basic schools in the two municipalities. 
 
That notwithstanding, he advised parents and guardians to invest much of their resources into the education of their children to build them a better future. 
 
Mr Hayford, also a leading member of the outreach and sensitization team of the university entreated the students to concentrate on their books and pass their examination well, saying UENR was there for them to access quality tertiary education that would fetch them quality jobs.
