Berekum, (Bono), Nov. 02, GNA- Odeefour Kofi Asante II, the Paramount Chief of the Berekum Traditional Area in the Bono Region, has called on wealthy Berekum natives to contribute their quota towards advancing the development of the area.
He urged the indigenes to prioritise the holistic development of Berekum by burying their differences and forging ahead in unity as well.
Odeefour Asante II made the call when addressing a durbar of chiefs and people to climax the annual celebration of their ‘Kwafie’ festival at Berekum.
He said the celebration of the festival had the sacred significance of strengthening the prevailing peace and unity, and social cohesion.
Besides, Odeefour Asante II said it was also a period of reflection, and pushing forward development, as the indigenes reflected on the contributions of their forefathers towards the development of the traditional area.
He advised the people to support him in his efforts towards resolving and withdrawing all pending chieftaincy disputes from the court, saying that: “We require absolute peace and litigation-free to advance the progressive growth and development of Berekum”.
Odeefour Asante II cautioned the sub-chiefs and elders in the area against indiscriminate sale of lands, especially lands designated for public infrastructure development.
Nana Akosua Ameyaahene III, the Paramount Queen-mother of the Berekum Traditional Area expressed gratitude to God for healthy life.
She urged the people to love and support one another and prayed that the prevailing peace of the area would be deepened for the purpose of development.
