Tema, Nov. 02, GNA – Dr Mrs Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, the newly inducted Vice-President of the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG), has urged Christians to demonstrate the teachings of the Bible through their daily conduct and actively support efforts to make the Scriptures accessible to all.
Dr Mrs Agyenim-Boateng said the Christian faith should be reflected not only in church attendance and the preaching of sermons but also in how believers communicated, treated others and demonstrated love.
“Our lives must be sermons. It is not just about listening to sermons every time; your daily life, how you talk, how you treat others, and how you show love must reflect Christ,” she stated.
She made the call during her induction ceremony, which formally marked the commencement of her tenure as vice-president of the society.
In her acceptance address, she said her decision to take up the responsibility was guided by prayer and a conviction to advance the Great Commission, as outlined in Matthew 28:19–20.
She noted that evangelism and Christian outreach must be anchored in the written Word of God, which provides the foundation for Christian faith and practice.
“You cannot teach someone in a class or anywhere and not recommend a textbook that will support the concepts taught,” she said.
She added that “When we go out as Christians, the Bible Society says, ‘Go out there, have the Bible, and let it be accessible and available to all.'”
Outlining her vision for the society, she presented a six-point framework comprising prayer, purpose, planning, parting with resources, perseverance and promotion.
She explained that supporting the Society required Christians and other stakeholders to contribute their resources, time and skills towards its work.
Dr Mrs Agyenim-Boateng called on individuals and Christian organisations to support the Society, stressing that it belonged to the entire Christian community and not any individual or denomination.
She also urged Christians to move beyond treating the Bible as a symbolic object and instead engage with it as a guide for spiritual growth and personal transformation.
She pledged her dedication, resources, and leadership to support the Society’s mission and serve the present generation.
The Bible Society of Ghana is a non-denominational Christian organisation mandated to translate, publish and distribute the Scriptures at affordable prices, while encouraging their effective use to promote spiritual transformation.
