Tema, Feb. 09, GNA – Mr Courage Nunekpeku, Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, has inaugurated the TDC Pensioners’ Network with a personal donation of GH₵100,000 to support the welfare and operations of the company’s retirees.

Mr Nunekpeku said the donation, which was to serve as seed money for the network, was separate from the official corporate support that management intends to roll out for former staff.

He said the welfare of retirees remained a key priority under the company’s ongoing transformation agenda.

The MD described the establishment of the Pensioners’ Network as an important step toward fostering a sense of belonging among retired staff and ensuring that their institutional knowledge and experience were not lost to the organisation.

“To demonstrate my personal commitment to your welfare, I am donating an amount of GH₵100,000 from my own pocket to help the network begin its operations,” he said, amid applause from the retirees.

Mr Nunekpeku disclosed that management, in collaboration with government stakeholders, had begun formalising a comprehensive benefits framework aimed at providing long-term security for pensioners.

He said a key proposal under consideration was the introduction of a dedicated healthcare access system, potentially in the form of a “gold card”, to guarantee medical services for retired staff.

Touching on the welfare of current employees, he noted that TDC was upgrading salary structures and improving workplace facilities to enhance productivity and staff morale.

He cited the creation of nursing support spaces to enable working mothers to balance childcare with professional responsibilities as part of efforts to improve staff comfort.

The MD further indicated that plans were underway to conduct an audit of existing working conditions to identify gaps and assess progress under the transformation agenda.

He urged retirees to take pride in the growth of the company and encouraged them to reach out to other former staff who were yet to join the Pensioners’ Network.
