Dambai (O/R) June 24, GNA – The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi West, Mr Prosper Addo, has handed over a newly completed three-unit classroom block to the Matekope community to enhance teaching and learning at the basic school level.

The facility, constructed by the Krachi West Municipal Assembly, is expected to provide a conducive environment for academic work and improve access to quality education for pupils in Matekope and surrounding farming communities.

The classroom block comprises three furnished classrooms, a staff common room, ceiling fans, and other ancillary facilities designed to support effective teaching and learning.

Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, Mr Addo said the project formed part of the Assembly’s commitment to expanding educational infrastructure and improving learning outcomes across the municipality.

He noted that investment in classroom infrastructure, school furniture, and teachers’ accommodation remained a key component of the Assembly’s medium-term development agenda.

“The provision of this facility is expected to improve enrolment and retention while creating an environment that motivates both learners and teachers to achieve their full potential,” he stated.

Mr Addo urged parents and guardians to prioritise the education of their children and appealed to community members to take ownership of the facility by ensuring its proper maintenance.

Receiving the project on behalf of the community, Mr Thomas Gaps, a former Assembly Member, expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly for addressing a longstanding educational infrastructure challenge in the area.

He said inadequate classroom facilities had previously affected teacher retention and access to education for some children in the community

Mr Gaps, together with traditional authorities and residents, also appealed to the Ghana Education Service to consider posting additional teachers to the school to complement the improved infrastructure and enhance academic performance.

The Krachi West Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to address educational challenges and improve access to quality education throughout the municipality.
