Sunyani (Bono), Feb. 19, GNA – Mrs Mabel Ama Taylor, the Acting Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) says the rehabilitation work on the Goaso Water System in the Ahafo region is about 65 per cent complete.
She explained that the reconstruction works on the water project started in 2025, saying that with available funds, the project was scheduled for completion this year.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Sunyani, Mrs Taylor said on completion, the water system would increase the Agency’s customer base in the area.
She said presently the Goaso Water System served more than 1,800 private customers, adding that the number was expected to rise significantly after the project was completed, saying that the Agency would also increase the number of standpipes to benefit more residents.
Mrs Taylor explained that the CWSA was undergoing policy reforms which had expanded its mandate, presently managing 17 water systems in the three regions.
She said the agency was also constructing a new water system for the Duadaso Number One and Duadaso Number Two communities in the Jaman North District of the Bono region, which were between 60 and 65 percent complete.
The Agency has already begun registering residents who wished to be connected, and about 500 of them had been registered.
Mrs Taylor stated that the CWSA intended to take over and run additional water systems that were not under its management as well as repair some broken-down boreholes, drilled new ones to expand the water coverage.
She said the Agency, through a request from the Chief Executive, had compiled the names of communities and schools that needed water and sanitation facilities in the three regions saying that they were working closely with the various Assemblies and to submit the required information.
