Sunyani (Bono), Sept. 12, GNA-Mr Kwasi E Ohene-Essel, a legal practitioner, has announced his intention to vie for the Bono Regional Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Ohene-Essel who works at the Tuah-Yeboah and Associates (Asempa Chambers), a Sunyani-based legal firm, gave the announcement in a statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.
According to the statement, his decision to contest for the position was motivated by the need to continue building a formidable NDC so that the party could retain 11 parliamentary constituency seats in the Election 2028.
It said the party ought to work hard to capture the Jaman South Constituency parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“The NDC also needs to retain political power in the 2028 General Election”. The statement stressed and highlighted the need for every member of the NDC to play their quota in that regard.
It explained that: “I was inspired by the conviction that members must continue to build a stronger and more united party capable of securing political victory in 2028”.
“I am offering myself to serve with a clear vision, centred on strengthening the grassroots, empowering constituencies and promoting unity within the NDC”, the statement indicated.
It stressed that: “My decision isn’t merely about seeking a position, but about building a formidable administrative structure in which every constituency has a voice, members remain well informed and the Bono Region receives effective representation in the NDC”.
The statement rallied support from members and supporters of the NDC in the region”, welcoming valuable opinions in helping to build a stronger party in the region.
Mr Ohene-Essel has rich experience in legal procedures, advisory services and office administration and holds a professional law qualification from the Ghana School of Law.
He has also served various capacities in the NDC in the region, serving as the leader of the Bono East Regional Legal Team of the party.
Mr Ohene-Essel also served as a member of the Bono Regional Disciplinary Committee and the Secretary to the Bono Regional Parliamentary Vetting Committee of the NDC.
He also served as a member of the Vetting Committee of the Bono Chapter of ProForum NDC, a member of the Vetting Committee of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and on the Social/Welfare Committee.
