Ho, Feb. 21, GNA – The office of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs (VRHC) is undergoing modernisation upgrades towards raising its status to match its traditional billing as custodians of the land and value systems.
The scope of renovation works include glaze, conversion of the Peace Council office to Judicial chamber, landscaping and canopy erection, external kerb works, additional washrooms, public gallery, VIP chamber, drains, and reroofing.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, President of the VRHC said the current renovation was the first major works of the facility, since its construction and commissioning by late President Jerry John Rawlings on November 18th, 1996.
He disclosed that the renovation was being funded by its internally generated fund, and donations accrued from notable friends of the House.
He said, ‘we cannot be frugal’ with the support being received from external sources, while the House facility remained unkempt.
“The novelty here is to retain some resources of ours and redirect that towards our common good. We cannot be seen as spend drifts.”
“We need to enhance the aesthetic beauty of the facility bequeathed to us, and that is the drive,” Togbe Tepre Hodo emphasiesd.
He appealed to business entities to engage the House, as their doors are widely opened for real business.
Togbe Tepre Hodo, doubling as the Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional Area paid glowing tribute to Togbe Drake Tsigbe IV, Paramount Chief of Akoefe, a Quantity Surveyor by profession, who is leading the charge for the renovation, with support from Togbe Dzaga II, Paramount Chief of Klefe and the entire finance committee members of the House.
He praised Mr Ikilil Mohammed, Registrar of the House for his instrumentality, steadfastness, and resilience for his administrative contributions to the development of the House.
The President of the House noted that leadership was exploring innovative measures to uplift the status of the VRHC and membership in training modules.
He believed that such training regimes would make chieftains more relevant in local governance, rule of law, security issues, and other topical issues of national discourse. And grounding them for their tasks.
Togbe Tepre Hodo appealed to individuals, NGOs, and people of Volta descent not to hesitate to do business with the entity promising a win-win situation.
Meanwhile, Mr Eric Kutortse, Executive Chairman of First Sky Group, in a recent visit to the House, has reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to supporting the Regional House of Chiefs to asphalt the internal roads and the immediate compounds of the facility, which is slated to start in May, this year, to bring beautification to back the status of Chiefs and he House.
