Sogakope, Feb 18, GNA – Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, Member of Parliament of the South Tongu Constituency, has launched the “Man for Chop” Youth Apprenticeship Programme to provide structured skills training opportunities for young people to promote economic empowerment and inclusive local development.
The programme, he said, had been designed to equip participants with practical and employable skills across various trades to enhance self-reliance, improve income-earning opportunities, and contribute to reducing unemployment in the constituency.
It is also expected to support the growth of small-scale enterprises and strengthen the local economy by building a skilled workforce.
Mr Lukutor said the initiative formed part of broader interventions aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods and improving socio-economic conditions, particularly among the youth and vulnerable groups.
“This programme is about giving our young people and all interested constituents the opportunity to acquire hands-on skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and productive members of society,” he said.
He noted that empowering the youth remained central to his development agenda, stressing that investing in skills development was critical to unlocking the potential of the constituency and fostering long-term growth.
Mr Lukutor said the full rollout of the programme would commence in March 2026, with applications currently open to prospective participants, adding that measures had been put in place to ensure a transparent and inclusive selection process.
“We are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind, regardless of educational background, and we encourage all eligible constituents to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their livelihoods,” he added.
“Application forms can be obtained at Freedom 88.1 FM, Ray Graphics, or at the MP’s office located at the Seman Hotel (formerly Happovers). The deadline for submission of completed forms is March 10, 2026.”
Mr Lukutor encouraged eligible constituents to apply within the stipulated period to benefit from the initiative, which is expected to make a significant contribution to skills development and job creation in the area.
