Tema, Feb. 27, GNA-The Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council (GNCFC) has expressed its deepest sympathy and solidarity with fishermen in Senya Breku and Tema who recently fell victim to a harrowing armed robbery attack in the waters of the Central Region.

The GNCFC, in a statement signed by Nana Jojo Solomon, president of the council, noted that these acts of aggression against law-abiding citizens at sea were deeply regrettable and a matter of grave concern to the entire maritime community.

It also expressed appreciation for the rapid intervention by the security agencies and local leadership for their swift action in the face of this crisis.

“Ghana Navy & Ghana Air Force: We are immensely grateful for the professional and rapid response of the search and rescue teams. Their intervention was critical in preventing further tragedy. Political Leadership: Our sincere thanks go to the MCE and MP for Awutu Senya West for their hands-on support and coordination during this difficult time.”

The GNCFC also applauded the chief fisherman and the courageous fishers of Senya Breku, whose local knowledge and bravery played a vital role in the immediate response.

“The Council remains committed to the welfare and security of all fishers. To ensure that the affected families and workers receive the necessary support, the GNCFC, in collaboration with the National Fisheries Association of Ghana (NAFAG), will conduct a working visit to the affected sites.”

It gave the assurance that they stand with the victims, stressing that stakeholders would work together to ensure that Ghana’s waters remained a place of livelihood, not fear.
