Accra, June 22, GNA – Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has departed Ghana for Barbados, after participating in the Next Steps High-Level Consultative Conference on Reparatory Justice and the historic joint observance of Juneteenth by Africa and the United States in Accra.
President John Dramani Mahama the host of the Next Steps High-Level Consultative Conference saw Prime Minister Mottley off at the Accra International Airport.
A statement issued by the Presidency said during the conference, leaders endorsed an outcome document and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing a shared agenda for historical justice, truth-telling, restitution, and stronger cooperation between Africa, the Caribbean, and the global African diaspora.
President Mahama expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Mottley for her leadership, advocacy, and steadfast commitment to the pursuit of reparatory justice, while reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to working with partners across Africa and the Caribbean to advance a more just and equitable future.
The conference marked a significant milestone in the global movement for reparatory justice and strengthened the longstanding bonds between Africa, the Caribbean, and people of African descent around the world.
The Accra Summit brought together delegates from over 80 countries. In attendance were- President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr of Liberia, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal, and the Prime Minister of Barbados honourable Mia Amor Mottley.
Others are Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua, President of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova and the Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Mr. Azouz Nasri.
