Accra, June 22, GNA – The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has recorded a breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking following the arrest of three suspects at an overnight operation at a suspected cannabis production and storage hub in Koleonu, Wegbe, and Akplamafu in the Volta Region.

A statement issued by NACOC said acting on credible intelligence, NACOC’s tactical operations team launched an intensive all-night raid on a stash house believed to be a key centre for the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil in the area.

It said the carefully coordinated operation led to the successful arrest of three principal suspects allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade.

The statement added that the operation was a decisive strike against narcotics-related criminal activity, emphasizing NACOC’s growing determination to dismantle drug syndicates threatening public safety and community wellbeing.

“This operation marks a significant step in NACOC’s ongoing efforts to identify, disrupt, and dismantle illegal drug networks across the country”

“The suspects are expected to aid ongoing investigations as NACOC work to uncover additional collaborators and trace supply routes connected to the operation,” it stressed.

It said the successful raid underscored NACOC’s intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking and served as a stern warning to individuals involved in the illicit drug trade that law enforcement remained vigilant and uncompromising.

The statement said the three suspects were currently in custody assisting with investigations and were expected to face prosecution in accordance with the law.
