Fodome (V/R), Feb. 24, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has revealed that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institute in the Gbi Traditional Area to enhance access to skills acquisition.
He said the establishment of such an institute and other second-cycle institutes across the Hohoe Constituency would transform it in terms of development.
Mr Gunu said this during a sod-cutting ceremony at Fodome to construct a Senior High School (SHS), noted that development projects would soon connect all traditional areas in the Constituency where the boundaries would be difficult to notice.
He said the unity and support received from the traditional areas in the Hohoe Municipality made it easy to embark on developmental projects, adding that the construction of the school would meet the deadline for the commissioning and handing over of the facility.
Mr Gunu said second-cycle institutions in the region were benefitting from many projects ranging from dining halls, classroom blocks, sickbays, administration blocks, staff and headmaster bungalows, libraries, and toilet facilities under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and GETFund.
Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Member of Parliament (MP), Hohoe Constituency, commended Mr Gunu for his continuous support for the Constituency.
Mr Tsekpo asked traditional rulers and community members to support the project towards its success.
Mr Victor K. Kovey, Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, said the school, if completed, would have a two storey dormitory block with courtyard (boys and girls), two storey 12-Unit classroom block, two storey administration block and a dining hall with kitchen.
Others would be six 2-Unit two-bedroom semi-detached staff bungalow, three-bedroom headmaster’s bungalow, two-storey science laboratory with equipment, three storey 18-Unit classroom block and two 12-seater toilet facilities.
Mr Samuel K. Kuma-Botchway, Consultant of the Project, said the project, costing GH₵86,136,606, would be completed in 12 months and would be a multi-tasking approach.
Togbe Adze II on behalf of Togbega Gbedegbleme Akpatsa II, Paramount Chief of the Fodome Traditional Area, said the project was a gesture aimed at the development of the Constituency and Fodome at large.
He said the gesture had truly strengthened the arms of traditional authorities as stakeholders of development.
