Cairo, Feb 28, (dpa/GNA) – Emirates airline has suspended flights to and from its hub in Dubai, due to the closure of several airspaces in the Middle East, following the Israeli-US strikes on Iran.
The decision affects flights in and out of both of the city’s major airports, the carrier’s media office said on Saturday. The airline is owned by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.
UAE aviation authorities said the closure of the airspace, was a “precautionary measure” taken due to the security situation in the region.
Following the morning attacks, airspace was also temporarily closed in several countries in the region, including Israel, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Qatar and Bahrain.
Among other airlines, Germany’s Lufthansa suspended several flights to destinations in the Middle East due to the situation.
