France, Germany and the UK condemn Iranian attacks on Middle East countries

Paris/Berlin/London, Feb 28, (dpa/GNA) – France, Germany and the United Kingdom have condemned “in the strongest terms” Iranian attacks on countries in the Middle East in a joint statement issued on Saturday.

“We condemn Iranian attacks on countries in the region in the strongest terms. Iran must refrain from indiscriminate military strikes,” the three countries said, while adding that they had not participated in Saturday’s strikes on Iran by US and Israeli forces.

“We call for a resumption of negotiations and urge the Iranian leadership to seek a negotiated solution. Ultimately, the Iranian people must be allowed to determine their future,” they said.

The statement said France, Germany and the United Kingdom, had consistently urged the Iranian regime to end its nuclear programme and to curb its ballistic missile programme.

They had also called on Tehran to refrain from destabilizing activity in the Middle East and in France, Germany and the UK and to “cease the appalling violence and repression against its own people.”

The statement followed attacks on Iran by Israeli and US forces, and counter-attacks by Iran on Israel and US bases in the Middle East region.
