Accra, Aug. 18, GNA – The National Youth Forum 2026 is expected to provide a platform for young Ghanaians to engage policymakers and contribute to discussions on issues affecting their future.
The forum, to be convened by Mr George Opare Addo, Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, would take place on Wednesday, August 19, at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
The event, scheduled for 0900 GMT, would be held on the theme: “A Sound Youth, A Sound Nation: Your Voice. Your Future. Our Ghana.”
The forum is aimed at promoting dialogue between government and young people while ensuring that youth perspectives are reflected in policies and programmes.
With more than 70 per cent of Ghana’s population aged 35 years and below, the forum comes at a time when issues of youth employment, entrepreneurship, skills development and national service remain central to national development discussions.
Mr Opare Addo is expected to lead the engagement alongside heads of agencies under the Ministry.
They include Mr Osman Abdulai Ayariga, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority; Mr Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency; Mr Eric Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP); and Madam Ruth Dela Seddoh, Director-General of the National Service Authority.
The participation of the agency heads is expected to provide an opportunity for young people to directly raise concerns and seek information on programmes and interventions targeting the youth.
The Ghana Youth Federation is partnering the Ministry to facilitate broader participation and ensure the inclusion of diverse youth voices in the discussions.
The Ministry has also partnered with YFM to extend the conversation beyond the event venue through its stations in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi, as well as its digital platforms.
The forum would be streamed live on the Ministry’s social media channels and carried on major media platforms to enable young people across the country to follow and participate in the discussions.
The Ministry has encouraged young people to actively participate by sharing their concerns, ideas and expectations to help shape policies and initiatives responsive to their needs and aspirations.
The forum forms part of efforts to strengthen youth engagement and promote inclusive decision-making in national development.
