Bechem, (Ahafo), Feb. 25, GNA-Dr Isaac Godfred Antwi, the Principal of the Bechem St Joseph College of Education in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region has called on the government to facilitate the resumption of work and completion of some abandoned physical infrastructural projects in the college.
He expressed worry that works on the construction of an administration block, girl’s dormitory and other facilities had been abandoned due to lack of funds, saying that the college needed those facilities for academic progression.
Dr Antwi made the call in an interview with the media on the sidelines of a matriculation ceremony held at Bechem, to officially admit the 347 freshers into the college, saying that the shortfall in the physical infrastructure development at the college remained a major challenge.
He said the institution needed more lecture halls to admit more students and appealed for additional support from corporate institutions, saying that the previous government initiated the execution of those abandoned projects.
Addressing the students, Mr Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive appreciated the pressing challenges confronting the college, assuring that immediate actions would be taken to facilitate the completion of the abandoned projects.
He advised the freshers to be studious and guard against unhealthy behaviours and acts of lawlessness that could truncate their education.
