Assin Assaman C/R), Feb 3, GNA-Residents of Assin Assamang in the Assin Central Municipality of the central region are urging the government to intervene for the contractors fixing their poor road network to hasten up to save them from respiratory diseases.
They specifically mentioned the Assin Assamang-Assin Awusem and Assin Assamang-Assin Kushia routes.
Despite the on-going reshaping of the roads, the contractor had failed to water them daily, leading to hazardous dust conditions that pose health risks, including respiratory illnesses.
The residents led by Mrs Effia Agyapong, expressed their frustration to the Ghana News Agency at Assaman.
They said the contract was awarded some years back, but the contractor’s performance had significantly declined this year.
Mr Gregory Ankomah Gyekye, the Assembly member, confirmed that his office had received numerous complaints regarding the dust issues, which was adversely affecting local schools.
He said attempts to address the concerns was yet to yield any result because the contractor remained unresponsive.
He however, promised to continue engaging the contractor to do the right thing.
