Akwaboa (Ash) Feb. 06, GNA – Akwaboa, a farming community in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, is set to get its first classroom block to start a school in the community.

The construction of the GHS 200,000.00 six-unit classroom block, through the district assembly’s share of the Common fund, started on December 06, 2025, after a sod-cutting ceremony, by Mr Mba Zechariah Alenbbilla, the District Chief Executive (DCE).

It is expected to be completed in six months.

Mr. Collins Nsiah Junior, the Assembly member for Pasoro-Akwaboa-Sokwai electoral area, told the Ghana News Agency during a visit to the project site that, the construction of the school block, was a welcoming news to the residents, especially parents and school going children.

He pointed out that children whose parents could afford the transportation fees to send them to private schools in Abuakwa, had to trek eight kilometres to attend public school at either Mfensi, Tabere, Pasoro or Ntensere.

This situation, he said, did not only pose severe financial burden on parents, but also affected the academic and health conditions of the children.

Mr Nsiah commended the government and the District Assembly for initiating, approving, and executing the project for the community, and stressed the need for the contractor to ensure early completion to save both parents and children.

He also appealed to the government and other organizations to support on-going self-initiated teachers’ bungalow and a 12-seater toilet projects at Pasoro and Sokwai communities respectively, to provide accommodation for teachers and improve sanitation situation in the area.
