Kumasi Feb. 06, GNA – The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has received tools and equipment valued at US$200,000.00, from Gered Gereedschap of the Netherlands.
The items are to strengthen the University’s Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and entrepreneurial development training.
Specifically, the multiple-containers full of tools and equipment are relevant for training in carpentry, construction, metal works, electrical and electronics, plumbing, automotive, fashion, and catering.
The grant was secured through the instrumentality of Prof. Humphrey Danso, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) of AAMUSTED.
Professor Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED, who received the items, expressed appreciation to the benefactor for the gesture and assured them of the University’s commitment to put the equipment to the best use possible to derive maximum benefits from them.
While assuring the benefactor that the tools and equipment would be immediately distributed to the relevant faculties to benefit students, he highlighted the University’s priority of creating conducive classroom and laboratory environments that encouraged students to interact with


and effectively use machinery, tools, and equipment, so, they could align theory and real-world practical applications.
The Vice-Chancellor commended Prof. Humphrey Danso for the tireless efforts he committed to securing the tools and equipment for AAMUSTED.
He also encouraged other Convocation Members to take a cue from Prof. Danso’s efforts and work to attract more grants and projects to facilitate the achievement of the University’s development agenda.
Prof. Danso, on his part, joined the Vice-Chancellor in extending appreciation to Gered Gereedschap for the gesture, which he described as a timely intervention.
He said the apparatus would go a long way to support skills training in the University.
Prof. Danso urged the beneficiary faculties and departments to prioritise proper maintenance of the tools and equipment to ensure their optimal usage by the University.
He thanked Prof. Edmond Agyeman, the Deputy Director of Research, International Programmes, and Institutional Advancement (DRIPIA) of AAMUSTED, for his contribution to efforts that culminated in the delivery of the tools and equipment to AAMUSTED.
