Vision Transit Bus Tragedy: Family of Three Buried

Kadjebi (O/R), Jan. 16, GNA — The victims of a tragic road accident involving a Vision Transit bus, have been laid to rest at Dodi-Mempeasem in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region.

The unfortunate incident on claimed the lives of a young family of three on Monday December 1, 2025.

The deceased were Mr Robert Wayo, a 48-year-old farmer, his wife, Madam Akorley Yeme, and their two-month-old baby.

The family died after they were knocked down and run over by a Vision Transit Bus with registration number GT 6683-24 at Dodi-Mempeasem.

The bus, which was travelling from Nkwanta to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region with passengers on board, reportedly hit the family from behind as they were returning home from Poase-Cement, a nearby community.

A solemn burial service was held in honour of their honour, attracting mourners from Dodi-Mempeasem, Poase-Cement, Butabe, Agortime Kofe, Dzindziso, Kadjebi and surrounding communities, who gathered to sympathise with the bereaved family.

Mr Dominic Delali Akoto, an opinion leader in the community, described the incident as heartbreaking and painful.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said the loss was devastating, particularly the death of the innocent baby and the young mother.

“What pains me most is the innocent child and the mother,” he lamented, calling for improved road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.

Ms Justine Amegatse, a mourner from Kadjebi, also expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

She told GNA that Madam Akorley Yeme was a twin who had earlier lost her twin sister, making the tragedy even more painful for the family.

She described the deaths as a severe blow and a great loss to the family and the community, urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads to help save lives.

The tragic incident has left residents of Dodi-Mempeasem in shock and mourning, as the community continues to grapple with the loss of the young family.
