Mafi Kumase (V/R), June 24, GNA – The Mafi Kumase Senior High Technical School (MAKSTEC) in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region has dedicated 90 choir robes valued at GH¢50,000 to enhance its choral activities and strengthen the identity of its school choir.
The robes were acquired through contributions from individuals, institutions, friends of the school and other stakeholders within and outside the district.
The ceremony, held on the school campus, attracted traditional authorities, education stakeholders, church leaders, parents, old students and members of the student body.
Mr Seth Korku Amewor, Headmaster of MAKSTEC, said the initiative formed part of deliberate efforts to promote holistic education through academic and co-curricular development.
He said the school remained committed to supporting talent development, particularly in music, which had become a defining feature of the institution.
“The choir has become a strong symbol of the school’s identity. We are committed to supporting them to achieve even greater heights,” Mr Amewor stated.
He commended the Choir Master and Music Teacher, Mr Eric Selorm Ansah, for his dedication and leadership, which he said had elevated the choir’s profile within the region.
“The effort and sacrifice of Mr Ansah have been exceptional. His work has placed MAKSTEC on the map in choral music,” he added.
He further indicated that the school would continue to invest in co-curricular activities to ensure the holistic development of students.
The MAKSTEC Choir, popularly known as the “Azoizoi Choir” or “Angelic Voices,” has grown from an initial 25 members to more than 120 choristers and has gained recognition in several regional and national choral competitions.
Dedicating the robes, Reverend Gershon D. Gakpetor, Regional Superintendent Minister of the Apostles’ Revelation Society (ARS) Edem Congregation at Ho, urged the choristers to uphold discipline, commitment and moral integrity.
He noted that the robes symbolised service and responsibility and must be worn with dignity and pride.
“These robes are not just clothing; they represent service, discipline and commitment. They must be worn with responsibility,” he said.
He cautioned the students against behaviours that could undermine the values and reputation of the choir and the school.
Togbe Awuku Avorvutor III, Manklalo of the Volo Traditional Area and co-chairman of the event, commended the choir for its discipline and achievements, describing it as an ambassador of the school and the district.
He urged stakeholders to sustain support to enable the choir to attain greater success.
“The choir has become an ambassador of the school and the district. Their consistency and discipline are commendable,” he noted.
The ceremony also featured the induction of newly elected choir executives, as well as the presentation of certificates and citations to outgoing final-year choristers in recognition of their service.
The outgoing students presented a citation to Mr Ansah, describing him as a mentor whose guidance had significantly shaped their musical and personal development.
The event marked another milestone in MAKSTEC’s commitment to promoting holistic education through academics, discipline and the arts.
