Somanya (E/R), Jan 13, GNA – The Divisional Chief of Plau, Nene Djaba Agblezee IV, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has organised the annual ” Soma Kids Fest ” celebration for children in Somanya.

The event featured a variety of educational activities and fun games including swimming, bouncy castles, wet and dry slides, trampolines, cotton candy, talent shows, spelling bees, drawing, and painting competitions.

The children enjoyed the activities with a shared learning that amplified the experience of acquiring knowledge.

Speaking at the occasion, Nene Agblezee IV said the celebration was organised to teach children the importance of socialisation and education.

He encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously as a foundation for achieving their future goals and becoming responsible leaders.

“We organised the Soma kids’ fest for you to take inspiration from some of us who are leaders. As the saying goes, leadership by example, ” he said.

“Parents should pay close attention to their children and ensure they are always with their books rather than they (the children) roaming about unnecessarily both day and night. “

He advised the youth to avoid the intake of alcohol, desist from drug abuse, and early sexual relationships, and instead focus on their education to become good leaders for the society

On her part, Mrs Awatey commended the chief for the initiatives and said the celebration was intended to promote socialisation among children.

She encouraged leaders in Yilo Krobo to include similar activities in their calendars as opportunities to guide children toward good behaviour and prepare them to become future leaders.
