Bolgatanga, July 17, GNA – Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Builsa South Constituency, has approved the release of GH₵331,000 from his share of the MP’s Common Fund allocation to support 248 brilliant but needy tertiary students from the constituency.
In a letter addressed to the District Chief Executive for the area, Dr Apaak authorised the release of the funds to provide financial assistance to students pursuing various academic and professional programmes in tertiary institutions across Ghana.
The letter, the beneficiaries comprised 161 female students and 87 male students, reflecting the constituency’s commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education.
Of the total beneficiaries, 166 students enrolled in universities, technical universities and other tertiary institutions would each receive GH₵1,500, while 82 students in Colleges of Education and Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges would each receive GH₵1,000.
The initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden on academically outstanding but economically disadvantaged students, enabling them to continue their education without undue hardship.
Dr Apaak who is the Deputy Minister of Education, noted that the intervention formed part of the Builsa South Constituency’s broader commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and investing in human capital development.
He expressed confidence that the support would help beneficiaries pursue their academic and professional aspirations while contributing to the socio-economic development of the constituency and the nation.
The MP appealed to the District Chief Executive for the necessary cooperation to ensure the timely release and disbursement of the funds to the beneficiaries.
