Sunyani, (Bono), Jan. 30, GNA-The Bono Regional Police Command says it will deploy 70 personnel to each of the voting centers in the region, as the delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepare for the Presidential Primary on Saturday.
The NPP goes to polls on Saturday, January 31, 2026 to elect a flagbearer for the Election 2028.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the police administration, said the regional patrol team would also move round the 12 politically administrative constituencies to maintain law and order.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) about the readiness of the police, Chief Inspector Akeelah pledged the police dedication to maintain law and order for a peaceful election.
He said police had already engaged with the NPP, other stakeholders and the Electoral Commission (EC) in the region, putting measures in place for the smooth conduct of the elections.
Chief Inspector Akeelah said that: “The party has pledged to cooperate with police on security”, saying that: “We’re also moving in full security strength like what we normally do during the General Election”.
He said the police had taken personnel through the public order management and rapid response training assuring that the police would do their best to ensure a peaceful election, by providing maximum security protection.
Chief Inspector Akeelah said the police would follow the election procedures and warned that troublemakers would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly, saying that “macho men” would also not be allowed at the voting centers.
