Kumasi (Ash), Jan. 12, GNA – Mr Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament for Kumawu, has launched a vocational skills training initiative, aimed at empowering about 300 young people in the constituency.
The objective is to help reduce unemployment and alleviate poverty through practical youth development and employment.
It is designed to equip the beneficiaries with employable and entrepreneurial skills in areas such as dressmaking, hairdressing, plumbing, carpentry, and other vocational trades.
Many of the selected youths, according to organisers, have been unable to further their education or acquire technical skills due to financial challenges and limited family support, making the intervention timely and impactful.
Mr Anim, speaking at the ceremony, expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to directly transform the lives of young people in Kumawu.
He stated that his vision as a legislator goes beyond parliamentary representation and focused on empowering constituents to become self-reliant and economically productive.
According to him, sustainable development in the constituency could only be achieved when the youth were equipped with relevant skills that enable them to earn a living and contribute meaningfully to society.
He emphasised that investing in human capital remained one of the most effective ways of eradicating poverty at the grassroots level.
“As an MP, it is not just about being in Parliament; it is about supporting your people and ensuring that their lives improve,” Mr. Anim noted, adding that youth empowerment remained a central pillar of his development agenda for Kumawu.

The Member of Parliament further pledged his unwavering commitment to supporting education, skills training and social intervention programmes, particularly for vulnerable groups within the constituency.
He mentioned people with disabilities, widows, and the elderly as key beneficiaries of future initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion and social protection.
Participants in the programme expressed heartfelt appreciation to the MP for what they described as his consistent presence and dedication to the needs of the people.
Some of the beneficiaries noted that unlike other areas where Members of Parliament were scarcely seen, the Kumawu MP remained actively engaged with his constituents and responsive to their concerns.
