Asawinso residents satisfied with President Mahama’s first year in office

Sefwi-Asawinso (WN/R), Jan. 12, GNA – Some residents at Sefwi-Asawinso in the Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region have expressed satisfaction in the successes chalked by President John Dramani Mahama in his first year in office. 

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on their assessment of the President’s first year in office, Mr Samuel Fuachie, a trader, said prices of staple foods were fairly stable compared to some years back. 

He explained that the priority of every parent was to provide food for their family, and that, prices of items like rice, cooking oil, and meat among others have been stable over the past year. 

He, thus, commended the government for this achievement. 

Mr Solomon Nkrumah, a fashion designer, talked about making good sales during the Christmas festivities, saying, prices of clothing materials had fallen ensuring that customers could afford to buy them.  

Kofi Nkuah, a young man, said the scrapping of the betting tax and COVID-19 levy were a welcoming news to the youth especially those into betting. 

Others also touched on the stability of electricity supply which they said had improved and boosting the local economy over the last year.  

They called on the government to maintain good fiscal discipline to improve upon the economy going forward.
