Ada, Jan. 31, GNA – Madam Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Ada East District, has highlighted development initiatives undertaken during her tenure and called for unity and peace to sustain progress in the area.
Madam Pobee said her administration prioritised infrastructure, security, and social services aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across the district.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Ada, she noted that the establishment of a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in the district was facilitated through support from national leadership, which helped improve access to healthcare services for residents.
She also cited security-related interventions, including plans to renovate the old district assembly building to support security operations, as well as the establishment of a temporary naval post to strengthen coastal surveillance.
According to her, market women and traders were central to her development agenda, as their economic activities sustained households and contributed significantly to local economic growth.
Madam Pobee said leadership decisions were sometimes misunderstood in the short term but often yielded long-term benefits for communities.
“I took some bold steps that attracted criticism, but they were necessary for the development of the district,” she said.
She urged residents to remain peaceful and avoid actions that could undermine development efforts, stressing that violence and political intolerance discouraged investment and slowed progress.
Touching on governance continuity, Madam Pobee said she remained willing to offer advice and support to the current DCE if called upon, describing collaboration as essential for sustained development.
“No single individual can develop Ada alone. Development requires cooperation across political, traditional, and community lines,” she said.
She encouraged residents to uphold democratic values, participate responsibly in elections, and avoid post-election tensions that could derail development gains.
Madam Pobee expressed confidence that with unity, discipline, and effective leadership, Ada could fully harness its development potential.
