Asankragua (W/R), Dec. 9, GNA – The Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged various youth groups in the municipality to educate them on measures to help curb corruption in the country.
The engagement, held with support from Gessellschaft Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the European Union (EU), was on the theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.”

Mr Cornelius Ahiakpor, the Amenfi West Municipal NCCE Director, speaking at the event, said corruption continued to drain public resources, weaken institutions, increase inequality, and erode public trust.
He said: “Every cedi lost is a missed opportunity for better schools, improved healthcare, stronger infrastructure, and decent jobs, and the impact is felt most by our youth whose dreams are limited when the system meant to serve them is compromised.”
He stated that over the years, NCCE and its partners had work to empower young people with knowledge, values, and confidence to uphold integrity and accountability, “because shaping Ghana’s future begins with nurturing the conscience of our youth today.”

Mr Ebenezer Twum Ampofo, the Municipal Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), urged the youth to become agents of change by speaking against corruption, and reported cases for investigation and accountability.
He sensitised the participants on the Public Order Act, encouraging them to exercise their rights to demonstrate within the law, while balancing freedoms with civic responsibility to ensure peace and security in their communities.
Participants at the event called for continuous engagements to deepen awareness and sustain the fight against corruption in the municipality.
