Ukraine drone strikes hit Russian fuel depots

Moscow, Dec 3, (dpa/GNA) – Ukrainian drone attacks struck fuel storage facilities in Russia’s Tambov and Voronezh regions, local authorities said early on Wednesday.

Tambov Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov confirmed on Telegram that a depot in the region caught fire, with emergency services quickly responding. He gave no details on the exact location or the extent of the damage.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported that a fuel depot in Dmitriyevka, about 50 kilometres north-west of Tambov city, was hit, publishing images and videos showing a large blaze.

In the neighbouring region of Voronezh, Governor Alexander Gusev said a drone crash caused minor damage to some fuel reservoirs in one district, but no fire or injuries were reported.

The Russian Defence Ministry, as usual, only released figures on drones shot down, saying 102 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight in the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov, Saratov and Voronezh regions. Tambov was not mentioned.

Russia launched its full-scale war against Ukraine over three and a half years ago and regularly shells Ukrainian territory while Ukraine has developed long-range drones targeting fuel and logistics sites in Russia’s hinterland.

Damage from Ukrainian attacks in Russia remains far below that inflicted by Russian strikes on Ukraine.
