Tarkwa (W/R), Dec 23, GNA-The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly (TNMA) has presented assorted working tools to 33 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality to undertake income generating activities.
The tools included, deep freezers, fufu pounding machines, corn milling machines, hair dryers, smart sewing machine, and bakery machine was to further aid the beneficiaries to provide for themselves and reduce burdens on their families.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Ebenezer Cobbinah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa Nsuaem, said distributing such essential tools showed their commitment to empowerment, self-reliance, and economic independence.
He said the assembly had supported fifteen beneficiaries with prosthetic lenses, restoring mobility, confidence, and hope to their brothers and sisters.
Mr. Cobbinah added that the intervention underscored their results in ensuring that no one was left behind in their quest for inclusive development.


He appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment to enhance their economic status and support their families.
He expressed appreciation to the government for its continuous support and commitment to social protection and empowerment programmes.
The MCE further called on all stakeholders to continue working with the assembly to build a society where every citizen, regardless of ability, was given equal opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningful to national development.
Mr Daniel Okyere, the Western Regional Chairman of PWD’s thanked the government, and said out of 1,500 registered members, only thirty-three received assistance.
He lamented over their finances saying “the whole of 2024 there was no disbursement. We have gotten to the end of this year, and we have done only one disbursement”.
Mr Okyere appealed to the government to release their three per cent share of the Disability Fund of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) regularly and on time to ensure they get the needed support.
