Thierry Henry honoured with Sports Personality of the Year award

London, Dec 17, (PA Media/dpa/GNA) – Former France and Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has been announced as the winner of the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

The 48-year-old is regarded as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever players for his achievements, during eight seasons with the Gunners, while he also played for Monaco and Barcelona.

He was a key part of Arsenal’s Invincibles team that went unbeaten in the 2003-04 season, while his honours with France included winning the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship.

A statement from the BBC said Henry had been given the award “in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the world of sport and his impact both on and off the football pitch”, with the trophy to be presented at the live show on Thursday.

Henry said: “Football has given me everything and I gave it my all. To be recognised as part of its history with this Lifetime Achievement award and to have made my mark for the fans and my team-mates is something I’ll never take for granted.”
