Accra, June 3, GNA– Rescue operations are underway at Adenta Newsite near Da Yesu Ase Supermarket following the collapse of a one-storey residential building during a downpour on Wednesday evening, trapping some occupants beneath the debris.

The building reportedly gave way amid the intense rainfall, prompting an emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

According to the GNFS, two persons were rescued from the rubble and rushed to hospital for medical treatment before the arrival of a rescue team from the Service’s National Headquarters.

Fire Service personnel are currently working at the scene to locate and rescue a woman and a child believed to be trapped in the collapsed structure.

The operation involves specialised search and rescue personnel who are carefully combing through the debris to reach the missing occupants while ensuring the safety of the team and survivors.

Residents and onlookers have gathered at the scene as emergency responders continue efforts to save those trapped.

The cause of the collapse is yet to be officially determined, although the incident occurred during a heavy rainstorm that affected parts of the capital.
