Regional Minister leads Ho security march, calls for festive vigilance

Ho, Dec. 23, GNA – Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister has joined security agencies in Ho for a route march to enhance public safety by intensifying vigilance ahead of Christmas festivities. 

The nearly three-hour exercise began at the Trafalgar Taxi Rank, moved through the principal streets of Ho, and ended at the Volta Barracks. 

Personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service, Fire Service and other security agencies participated, drawing the attention of commuters, traders and residents. 

Addressing officers, Mr Gunu commended the security services for their dedication, discipline and professionalism in safeguarding the region. 

He said the commitment and high morale displayed by the personnel were reassuring and reflected in a collective resolve to keep the Volta Region peaceful. 

“As we approach the Christmas and New Year festivities, I urge you to remain vigilant and tighten security across the region,” Mr Gunu stated. 

He noted that the festive season required heightened alertness, adding that proactive security measures were essential to prevent crime and protect lives. 

He appealed to the public to cooperate with security agencies by being law-abiding, alert and ready to share credible information when necessary. 

The Flag Officer Commanding of the Naval Training Command and 7 Garrison Commander, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, said the march was a preventive measure. 

He explained that increased movement and commercial activities during the festive season could create opportunities for crime, and assured residents of adequate security.
