Effia (WR), Dec. 21, GNA- Professor George Adjei, the Chairman of the Takoradi Technical University Governing Council, says the University has deliberately positioned its academic programmes to respond to industry needs and emerging technological trends.
“This is in line with our vision to be a world-class Technical University recognised for excellence, innovation, and societal relevance”.
Prof. Adjei said this at the 26th congregation ceremony of the School, which conferred degrees, HNDs and Diplomas on deserving students after successful completion of their programme of study and fulfilling all regulations for the honours.
He said the blend of traditional programmes with newly introduced ones created a unique opportunity to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies demanded by both the national and global markets.
He noted how the evolving nature of the job market required Technical Universities to respond strategically and progressively through the programmes offered.
“You leave these walls with trained minds, hearts, and hands, but you enter a world filled with individuals who, though they may lack your formal education, possess vital skills and have contributed immensely to our nation’s growth.
Be humble and recognise that they are essential partners in our country’s development”, he advised the graduands.

The Council Chairman urged them to also be worthy ambassadors and always uphold the excellent reputation of Takoradi Technical University.
“You must also recognise the importance of staying connected as alumni to support institutional growth, industry collaborations, and strategic partnerships that will continue to strengthen TTU’s impact”.
Miss Judith Nana Abena Nti was adjudged the overall female best graduating student as well as the overall best graduand while, Master Obed Agyapong Boakye emerged as the overall best male graduand.

Reverend Professor Frank John Eshun, the Vice Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University said the University was committed to providing quality education, fostering strong industry partnerships, and empowering graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their respective fields.
“We pledge to continue our mission of academic excellence, research, innovation, and community impact, ensuring that our graduates of today are well-prepared to make positive contributions to society and industry”.
He said in the 2024/2025 academic year, the University successfully turned out three thousand seven hundred and fifty (3,750) graduands.
Out of the figure, one thousand five hundred and twenty (1,520) were awarded Bachelor of Technology degrees, one thousand four hundred and sixty-four (1,464) Higher National Diplomas with thirty-eight (38) receiving Competency Based Training certificates.
Meanwhile, seven hundred and sixty-six (766) received Diplomas of Technology.
The TTU had introduced sign language training for staff and students, and a dedicated room with assistive devices for learning, thus increasing the number of personnel now able to communicate with hearing-impaired students, who form the greater part of the disability population.
The total number of students with disabilities who have passed through the University stood at 167 reflecting the University’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
Prof. Eshun said the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission had given accreditation to run in the 2025/2026 Academic Year the following programmes; BSc. Event Management, Real Estate Management, B. Tech. Media and Communication Technology, B. Tech. Quantity Surveying and Construction Procurement, B. Tech. Science Laboratory Technology and D. Tech Interior Design.
The TTU Innovation Hub (TTU-iHub) had, in partnership with the THINK Network and several strategic collaborators, implemented some impactful innovation and entrepreneurship programmes between 2023 and 2025.
These initiatives focused on agribusiness development, technology-driven innovation, youth employability, and sustainable enterprise creation.
The University, the Chancellor said remained committed to deepening these partnerships while actively pursuing new ones that would enrich academic environment and position TTU as a leader in applied research, innovation, and technical education.
The University remained committed to advancing applied research and translating innovation into practical solutions that addressed societal needs.
“In line with this mandate, we have strengthened strategic research collaborations both locally and internationally, leading to increased research grants and enhanced staff engagement in research and knowledge creation”.
These efforts had significantly improved the visibility of Takoradi Technical University.
