Dambai (O/R), Dec 15, GNA – The arrival of equipment for a bridge over River Oti has sparked excitement among residents, travelers and commuters who frequently cross the river.
At Dambai Old Town junction, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) spotted long trucks carrying heavy equipment such as rollers, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, compactors and graders destined for the River Oti bridge project.
The bridge was part of the government’s $10 billion Big Push Agenda, aiming to boost economic growth and improve regional access when completed.
Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, earlier told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the bridge would facilitate regional integration and enhance connectivity between northern and southern sector of the country.
Mr James Mawutor and Mr Abubakar Wahab, both residents in Dambai community, welcomed the development, citing past challenges with ferry and boat services had been the only option, often causing delays and safety concerns.
Other residents who spoke to GNA also expressed optimism about the upcoming River Oti bridge construction, they believe the bridge would end decades of delays crossing.
“Traveling will be faster, trading easier, no more ferry queues, this bridge is a game-changer,” the residents added.
